Over the last few weeks, so many people have responded to the recent posts about the albums made here that I’ve been wondering whether there may be interest in something more personal.

I’m considering hosting a small number of very limited studio afternoons at Curtis Schwartz Studio in Sussex: relaxed, personal sessions for serious listeners who would enjoy spending time inside the environment where these records were made, and hearing more about how they came together.

The focus would be on record-making, listening, conversation, and the creative process.

A Behind-the-Scenes Afternoon at Curtis Schwartz Studio

A chance to hear how these records were made, in the studio where they took shape.

What it would be

A limited studio afternoon, centred around the making of the records created here.

What we might explore

  • how tracks evolve from ideas into finished productions

  • how arrangements are built and refined

  • recording and mixing decisions

  • stories from the sessions

  • a tour of the studio

  • listening in stereo and, where appropriate, Dolby Atmos

  • time for questions, conversation, and refreshments

The idea

This would not be a convention, a formal masterclass, or a meet-and-greet.

The idea is something quieter and more personal: a chance to spend time in a working studio, hear how records take shape, and talk in a more detailed way about the creative decisions behind them.

Numbers would be kept very small so that it remains relaxed, thoughtful and genuinely worthwhile.

Why now

The recent response to the studio’s YES-related posts has made me realise that there may be a small number of people who would genuinely enjoy hearing more about the musical and production side of those albums, in the place where they were made.
