Songwriting Workshops
Alongside the technical masterclasses, I will also be running small-group songwriting workshops at Curtis Schwartz Studio.
These sessions are designed for singers, musicians, songwriters and producers who want to develop ideas, collaborate with other artists, and experience the process of creating songs in a real recording studio environment.
The workshops are practical, creative and hands-on. Rather than simply talking about songwriting, we will be writing, arranging, recording and developing music together in the studio.
What we will be working on
Depending on the group, the sessions may include:
• Songwriting and arrangement
• Lyric and melody development
• Finding the emotional centre of a song
• Recording ideas quickly and creatively
• Vocal production and harmonies
• Building demos in Pro Tools
• Collaboration between musicians, singers and writers
• Turning rough ideas into finished recordings
The aim is to help you understand how songs grow from a first spark into something more complete. Sometimes that may begin with a lyric, a chord sequence, a melody, a rhythm, or simply a feeling that needs to become music.
Create songs in a real studio environment
Working in a professional recording studio changes the way ideas develop. You can hear things properly, try parts quickly, record vocals, build arrangements and respond to the sound of the track as it comes to life.
These workshops are especially useful for young artists, students, singers, producers and musicians who already have ideas but would like help turning them into stronger songs and more finished demos.
Collaboration and confidence
Songwriting is often about finding the right people to create with. These sessions will give participants the chance to meet other musicians and writers, share ideas, try different approaches and experience the creative energy of working together in the studio.
You do not need to arrive with a finished song. You may come with a lyric, a chorus idea, a chord progression, a melody, or simply the wish to write and collaborate.
What you may leave with
By the end of the workshop, participants may leave with recorded demos, new collaborators, fresh ideas and a much clearer understanding of how songs develop from first idea to finished production.
The goal is for everyone to come away feeling inspired, encouraged and more confident about their own songwriting.
Summer holiday workshops
Small-group songwriting workshops will be available during the summer holidays for a small additional fee.
Places will be limited so that everyone has the chance to contribute, record and be properly involved in the creative process.
